Coach Nat Gonzalez’s assistant Coach Brandon Owens was on the beach Sunday for the championship and led the team to victory. On Saturday, Gonzalez was at the Home Depot Center as a staff coach for the GU18 National Team training camp – quite the different atmosphere being on the Oceanside beach Sunday. Gonzalez thought the contrast of coming from HDC, grass soccer, GU18 National team to the beach and the crazy, fun atmosphere was great! A new coach for this team, He was happy with the boys overall play and has a plan to take the team to even great heights. Gonzalez complimented the SURF team coached by Danny Salas and told SN that they did a great job. The battle between the HAWKS and the SURF will continue as these two talented teams compete against each other as the season continues.
The HAWKS play up the fun and the team building of the beach tournament. According to Kelly Collins, Administrator for the HAWKS, there is enough stress and expectations on the young players during the season. The beach soccer tournament is a time for parents to sit in their beach chairs and enjoy the day with their families!

The Beach Soccer Championships were a great way to start the season for the two teams! Congratulations!
