Can this man sell underwear? I think we all know the answer.
Soccer News: David Beckham's Commerical Airs on SuperBowl
David Beckham Bodywear for H&M Game Day Ad will appear on the SuperBowl next weekend. Who says sex doesn't sell underwear? Soccer star David Beckham's commercial walks the line, carefully. Great ad. It should sell H&M, Beckham's new underware and maybe even body art.
The world’s second largest global clothing retailer and the world’s most famous soccer player are making their debut - together - in Super Bowl XLVI!
Soccer icon David Beckham has just recently re-signed with the MLS LA Galaxy after turning down millions to move to Paris, France. Citing family reasons as part of why the soccer star remained on the West Coast of the USA, this famous soccer dad is obviously not in the need of the extra cash - not with the exciting new Beckham Bodywear line rolling out.
Beckahms says, "I love underwear. It is as simple as that. We all have to wear it, at some times. Obviously it was something I wanted to go into, something I was very passionate about. It is very personal to me and I am very proud of it."
H & M, a leader in “fast fashion,” announces the debut of their first ever Super Bowl TV commercial starring David Beckham, also in his first ever Super Bowl TV commercial, to introduce H & M’s David Beckham Bodywear line.
David Beckham Bodywear for H&M Game Day Ad
The seductive black and white commercial is a visual ode to David Beckham and his new collection. Set to the song “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” by The Animals, the 30-second spot features images of Beckham, noted as one of the best dressed men in the world, modeling the collection and captures the energy, playfulness and style of the H&M brand. The camera angles range from close-ups to 360° views of Beckham sporting various pieces from the new line including the affordably priced briefs ($12.95) and trunks ($14.95).
"Everything fits right, everything feels right, it is not too in your face," says Beckham.
“I’m excited about my bodywear ad featuring in this year's Super Bowl,” says David Beckham. “My design team and I spent 18 months developing the collection, it’s been a fantastic collaborative experience, and I’m very happy with the end result. Like every fan, I'm looking forward to Super Bowl Sunday.”
“We’re thrilled about David starring in our Super Bowl spot, which kicks-off the North American launch of the global David Beckham Bodywear collection,” says Steve Lubomski, Director of Marketing for H&M North America.
“We’ll reach a significant number of our consumer base during the Super Bowl, and we’ll continue the momentum with a 360° marketing campaign that includes social media, national advertising, PR and consumer engagement.”
The TV ad, filmed in Hollywood earlier this year, is slated to air during the telecast in the second quarter of Super Bowl XLVI.
The Beckham Bodywear line continues H & M’s successful run of acclaimed guest designer collaborations - most notably Stella McCartney, Madonna, and Roberto Cavalli among many others.
Beckham’s H & M Bodywear line introduces nine underwear styles for men, focusing on quality, fit, function, comfort and design.
The launch for the H & M David Beckham Bodyline collection for men will coincide with Valentine’s Day a few days away. The underwear will be in 1,800 H & M stores worldwide.
H & M operates 2,300 stores with over 87,000 employees. It is ranked as the second largest global clothing retailer.
Everything you see, all the items, Beckham has chosen, and says the line is "100% me."
While some people may wonder why Beckham is so personal about his underwear, the campaign should make the cash register ring and if players can't play like Beckham, at least they can feel like Beckham - in his underwear.
H & M Beckham Billboards and More! The introduction of the new bodywear line will be supported by an integrated marketing effort with a mix of TV, national and local print, interactive/web and out-of-home advertising. In addition, H&M secured a large space in NYC on 8th Avenue & 34th Street to create intrigue and anticipation leading up to the big game. A full body-length image of David Beckham modeling the new trunks will be hand-painted over a period of two weeks and completed by Super Bowl weekend.
The process will be captured on video and shared as a time-lapse piece on www.YouTube.com/hm.
I guess the answer is, yes, I will buy it for my soccer player husband!
