Youth Soccer News: GRANADA UNITED G99 REACH FINAL FOUR IN THE 2011 STATE CUP - GOVERNORS

Team Coverage on Granada United GU99 - State Cup Competitors

Winning 5 straight games, scoring 13 goals, allowing only 3 goals and recording 3 shutouts the Granada United GU99 team is a tough compeitor on the soccer field. 

These accomplishments in the State Cup Govenor's division allowed the girls to reach the semi-final round in only their second year.

Round 1 saw the girls record a 3-0 shutout against the South Valley SC and a 2-0 shutout against Corona United to win the bracket.

Round 2 began with a 3-1 win against the Fullerton Rangers and then a hard fought 3-2 win against the Westside Breakers.

On Sunday, the 6th, the girls recorded another 2-0 shutout in the quarter-final game against the South Bay Force.

According to Granada United's Coach Sean, "I am very proud of the girls and their play. Every girl gave 110% in these games and they deserve to be a semi-finalist." Coach Jose agreed, "I am very happy with the way the girls have played in this tournament. We have had some injuries to some key players but all of the girls came together, stepped up their game and stayed focused. They have really earned their success but we are not finished yet." 

The offense, scoring almost 3 goals a game, was led by Chloe, Geo, Brianna, Meagan, Corina and Mayte.

The defense, allowing only 3 goals in 5 games was led by Addie, Megan, Yesenia, Priscilla, Ashley, Lizzie, Valerie and Christine.  And, of course, our goalies who led us to 3 shutouts, Briana and Mila. 
 
Everyone is looking forward to February 19th where the girls have two more games to win.
