Youth Club Soccer Spotlight: Granada United G99 Successful Tournament Season

Soccer NEWS:  Granada United G99 Team's Success Continues with 2 Championships and a Finals loss (in PK’s) in their last 3 Tournaments.

Following the Granada United G99 team’s win in the recent Slammers Tournament the Girls made the Final at the Bayern Jr. Cup in Huntington Beach. The girls came out ahead 1-0 in a tightly fought game against Crescenta Valley. Next up was a 5-0 win against SC Bayern and a 5-1 win against Spartans.

Winning all 3 games was enough to get the girls into the Finals against Arsenal Romero. Despite being the underdog and being down 2-0 very quickly, the girls fought back and tied the game 2-2 which is the way it stayed through overtime. Entering the PK shootout we were unlucky and ended up losing in the final, 3-2. The team scored 11 goals and only gave up 3 while being the only team to score against Arsenal in the tournament.

This past weekend the girls came away with their second championship in their last 3 Tournaments. The Granada United G99 girls received the Champions trophy at the Simi Valley Eclipse Tournament this past weekend. The girls scored 16 goals and allowed none in the 4 games by beating LAFC White 7-0 in the first game, CVU Red 2-0 and SVSC Eclipse 5-0 in the final bracket game.

Granada United G99 then beat CVU Red again by the same 2-0 score in the Final.

Different girls stepped up in each game this weekend and these wins were truly a team effort with  Briana, Megan, Addie, Yesenia, Mayte, Brianna, Geo, Chloe, Meagan, Arianna, Ashley, Christine, Corina, Lizzie, Mila and Priscilla contributing. Everyone is looking forward to the league season which starts this Saturday.
