Youth Club Soccer Spotlight: Granada United BU16 Win Spring Soccer Cup

The Granada United BU16 team has been performing well this year.  After finishing as a semi-finalist in this year's State Cup, they became Spring Cup Champions this past weekend.  The team played exceptionally well on both offense and defense with 12 goals scored and only allowing 3 goals in the 5 games.  The Pool games resulted in shutouts in the first two games; 3-0 vs RAC Milan in pouring rain and 5-0 vs OC Revolution.  The final pool game resulted in a 2-1 loss to AVFC Red on a last minute PK.  Entering the Semi-Final round, Granada was seeded against AVFC Red again.  This game was a very hard fought and aggressive match and resulted in a 2-1 win for Granada.

 

The Final game placed the Granada boys against Riverside MGM Juventus, last year's Spring Cup winner and a State Cup finalist this year.  This game was a very hard fought battle with non-stop action at both ends of the field.  Granada BU16 came out ahead 1-0 in the match and captured the trophy this year. 

According to Coach Jose Vasquez, "I am very proud of each and every one of these boys.  They have been put in the time and effort to improve and it has paid off in a semi-final place in the  State Cup and now this Championship. I am looking forward to many more exciting moments next season."
