San Diego Pro Soccer: David Beckham led LA Galaxy to Victory Defeating LD Alajuelense

Bruce Arena, Landon Donovan and David Beckham were all excited to beat Thursday's CONCACAF Champions League opponent, LD Alajuelense

David Beckham led the LA Galaxy to victory over the champions CD Alajuelense, in the CONCACAF Champions League. With goals from Omar Gonzalez and Chad Barrett, Thursday evening at the Home Depot center.

LA Galaxy controlled much of the first half and went ahead on a set play. Beckham delivered one of his patented corner kicks on to the head of central defender Gonzalez, who made no mistake from point blank range.

The Galaxy continued to press forward with the Costs Ricans defending stoutly. Robbie Keene the newest edition to the Los Angeles attack had a tough time losing his markers as Alajuelense had obviously put him down as the player to stop.

Unfortunately they forgot about Beckham who in the 77th minute started the move that would close the door on the visitor’s chances of leaving California with any of the points.

Beckham found Sean Franklin streaking down the right flank and his cross was deposited into the back of the net by Barrett giving LA a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The Galaxy next travel to Mexico to face Morelia, who won their first CCL game versus Motagua of Honduras, on September 13.
