In anticipation of the approaching bid announcement on December 2 for the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup™ locations, the USA Bid Committee today launched a new video narrated by Morgan Freeman to rally soccer supporters in the U.S. and throughout the world.
Freeman is joined in the video by fellow USA Bid Committee board of directors members U.S. President Bill Clinton, Spike Lee and U.S. soccer player Mia Hamm in a celebration of fans and players from across the country expressing and displaying their passion for the game.
In an email to supporters sent today, Freeman wrote, "I am proud to lend my voice to this remarkable effort to bring the FIFA World Cup™ to the United States. Soccer is the world's game, its beauty and simplicity embraced by people in every corner of the globe. I have seen the game's power to bring people together, to stoke their passion, to realize their dreams. Together, we are living the power of soccer." CLICK HERE
Earlier in September, the FIFA Inspection Delegation toured cities around the U.S. to review the proposed soccer stadiums, training sites, transportation and other components of the bid. The USA Bid Committee shared this video with the FIFA officials visiting the U.S. during the FIFA Inspection Tour.
More than 1 million soccer fans have signed the online petition to bring the FIFA World Cup to the US at GoUSABid.com to date.
