Club Soccer News Spotlight: Carlsbad Lightning Elite GU14 Are 2011 Slammers Champions

Carlsbad Elite GU14's have done it again. This past weekend they defeated all opponents they faced and were announced champions of the 2011 Slammers Tournament.

Carlsbad Elite, playing 5 games over the course of the weekend, won all matches and scored a total of 10 goals while conceding 0.

The Elite girls defeated two teams that participate in ECNL; Slammers and So Cal Blues, and also finished with a great game in the finals against Legends, resulting in a 4-0 win.

Goal scorers of the weekend were: Hayley Mayne (2), Miranda Martinez (2), Dori Moul (2), Rachel Ereso (1), Sunny Dunphy (1), Elysa Briens (1), and Emily Sanchez (1).  

Michael Duggan, Director of Coaching for Carlsbad Lighting says, "All the players were great. Dani Baldwin, Delaney Lotwin, Hannah Ward, Kallie Kampfl, Kerry Kuhnert, Piercy Robinson, Shelby Cormier, and Veronica Romines were outstanding."

"An overall great performance was turned in by this team and they showed great skill, talent, and most importantly determination. Playing with only 11 players due to injuries in both the semi final and final, their determination shined bright and led them to a very successful weekend.

The Carlsbad Elite girls will be competing in San Diego Surf Cup this weekend.
