World Cup Package Part of 2011 Moyer Foundation Dream Catcher Event
In 2000, MLB World Series Champion pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen, began The Moyer Foundation in Seattle, Washington, to help children in distress. Since then the Foundation has expanded beyond the Northwest with its signature program Camp Erin, the largest national network of bereavement camps for grieving children and teens. On Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, 2011, the Foundation will hold its Dream Catchers event at Skylight West in New York City.
Dream Catchers is an auction event that offers once-in-a-lifetime “dream" opportunities created through the generosity of celebrities and patrons from all walks of life. The Dreams are ultimate life experiences that aren’t typically available anywhere but through this event and are catered towards those seeking exclusive opportunities in sports, travel and entertainment.
“One of our first fundraising initiatives as a Foundation was to help fund bereavement camps in New York for children who had lost loved ones during the tragic 9/11 attacks. Less than a year later, we started Camp Erin,” said Jamie Moyer, president of The Moyer Foundation. “After remembering the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Karen and I are excited to hold this incredible event in New York City on Veteran’s Day that will allow us to help even more children in distress nationwide.”
NBC’s TODAY co-host Ann Curry will kick off the evening’s festivities and former NBC news personality Stone Phillips will host the special event that will feature live entertainment, on-site silent auction and the live Dream auction. The live Dream auction will run simultaneously online, allowing people from throughout the U.S. and around the world to participate in the event.
