Donovan leaves LA Galaxy for World Cup

LA Galaxy and Toronto FC end in a 0-0 stalemate in Saturday night's Major League Soccer (MLS) game at the Home Depot Center.  Toronto was not intimidated by the fact that Buddle leads the league in goals and that Donovan leads it in assists.  LA Galaxy is now at 7-0-2 and Toronto is at 3-4-1.

The game was strained as both teams tried to score.  It was no surprise that with 9 goals so far this season, Buddle came the closest to succeeding. Buddle, who has not scored in the last 3 games took a pass from Donovan in the sixty-six minute of the game and fired a shot against the left post but missed scoring a goal.  Buddle kept trying but with no luck.  While LA Galaxy remains unbeaten, the fire needs stroking as the fans are all looking for an exciting win to come soon.

This game was not the send off everyone wanted for Buddle and Donovan as they prepare to leave the LA Galaxy on Sunday May 17th for pre-World Cup training at Princeton Univeristy and play some friendlies  against the Czech Republic on May 25 in Hartford, Conn., and Turkey in Philadelphia on May 29.

Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle are being called LA’s dynamic duo as everyone wishes them success as they leave to join the U.S. team for the World Cup training for what could be six weeks or more.  U.S. coach Bob Bradley will begin practice with the dynamic duo next week.

This 30-man U.S. preliminary roster, from which coach Bob Bradley will select his final, 23-player team was expected to create some news but the biggest reation has been on Davies being left off the roster and his frustration.  The inclusion of soccer stars Buddle and Gomez for the Princeton camp has raised some red flags as the forwards have spent little to no time with the core pool of soccer players on the U.S. team during the World Cup cycle.  Most of the players on the 30-man roster have spent a lot of time together practicing with the team, there is some concern that these new players could affect the tight knit chemistry of U.S. team. Donovan is not concerned.  How will the new additions fit into the team? Will the players who are new additions blend well with the chemistry of this close knit team?  Everyone will keep a close eye on how the team's training goes and who makes the final roster for the departure for South Africa on May 30 and the opening game on June 12 against England.

Inside Scoop:

Donovan is not predicting a clear win in the U.S. vs England June 12 match but this game is sure one to watch.  "Of course, there is more pressure on the English players," Donavan said. "If we don't do well in the World Cup, people care for a little bit. But if England doesn't do well in the World Cup, it is absolutely devastating to their country, their families, to their people."
