Youth Sports News: Chievo Verona to Launch North American Academy in Partnership with Global Image Sports

A.C. Chievo Verona of Italy’s Serie A and sports management company Global Image Sports (GIS) have announced a formal partnership to launch the Chievo Verona North American Soccer Academy across the United States and Canada.

In the first phase of the project, Settore Giovanile (Chievo’s Academy) will form partnerships with youth soccer clubs across the two North American countries. Coaches and players in partner clubs will have the chance to work with Academy coaches from Chievo Verona in both North America and Italy. The program will offer participants insights into the philosophy of youth player development at the Serie A Top-10 club.

“We are looking forward to working with GIS on this project in North America,” said Chievo Verona President Luca Campedelli. “We see so many benefits in working with Partner Clubs in North America, and we also believe that we have much to offer them as well.”

“As a Serie A football club playing at the highest level in Italy, it is extremely important for us to work only with organizations that match our high standards,” Campedelli explained, “and in GIS we have a partner that we have real confidence in. It seems a perfect fit for everyone.”

“We are delighted to announce our first Italian partnership with Chievo Verona, one of Italian Football’s biggest success stories in recent years,” said GIS Chief Operating Officer Mike Kelleher. “As with all our Professional Football Club partnerships, we ensure what we offer in North America is a legitimate link to the Football Club and its Academy. We are excited to assist with the development and growth of Chievo.”

The Chievo Verona North American Academy will host a series of Elite Player ID Events with partner clubs during the 2012-13 soccer season. The series will culminate in the Chievo Verona National Camp. Clubs interested in becoming North American partner clubs with Chievo Verona can contact Erik Ingram at ingram@globalimagesports.com.

The Chievo Verona Training Center outside Verona, Italy, is available for partner clubs to visit, train and play. Clubs can also take part in the annual Chievo Junior Cup in June. To see images of the Chievo Verona Training Center, click here.
