This was the SurDel Force GU13 team's first trip to sunny San Diego and they were enjoying it so much, they already were making plans to come back in two years. Coach Rick Carreiro said it was a great experience for the girls to measure themselves against the strong SoCal competition, even though they were playing up a year. Carreiro has been playing for 20 years and has coached along side Frank Dotto. Many of the SurDel Force GU13 team have been together for 4 years.
The girls worked hard at raising money for this trip. The team spent over one year fundraising to be able to pay for all the expenses.
SurDel Force competed in the Girls U13 Silver bracket against Arsenal FC Red, OC Premier Alliance, RSF Attack-White in their Flight B. Also in the Girls U13 bracket were 4S Avengers, La Jolla Impact Montoya, San Ramon Azuri 97 Girls Black and FC San Diego competing in Flight A.
RSF Attack White won the Championship with 4S Avengers taking the Finalist spot.
While SurDel Force team traveled far to participate in Pegasus Cup and did not win their bracket, the girls' enthusiasm for the competition and their sunny, passionate attitude could not be dampened.
SurDel Force teams do travel to the U.S. for competitions and their Canadian website lists other teams that have visited the USA for tournaments.
