Youth Soccer News: Cal South and Nike Announce Five-Year Partnership Agreement
The new agreement marks one of the most significant and longest-standing relationships in youth soccer
Earlier this month, Cal South and Nike announced the renewal of their long-standing sponsorship agreement. Nike remains Cal South's official apparel and equipment sponsor supporting all of Cal South's elite youth identification and development programs. Both organizations are committed to supporting each other's efforts to grow the game of soccer in one of the most diverse and distinguished soccer markets in the United States. The new agreement extends the longest-standing apparel sponsor relationship in youth soccer for five years into 2017.
Cal South President Johnnie Garza is very pleased to continue the excellent relationship with Nike, pointing out, "They are the preeminent soccer brand in the world.”
“Both organizations have grown significantly over the course of our relationship,” Garza explained. “Our mutual support has accelerated that growth. Nike's investment in Cal South allows us to offer the nation's top identification and development program at virtually no cost to the players. And our players and staff are looking forward to proudly wearing and using the best and sharpest looking soccer gear."
Joe Elsmore, Nike Director of U.S. Soccer Sports Marketing, sees the agreement as part of the overall growth of the game. "Nike believes in and supports the growth of soccer globally. Partnering with Cal South is a great opportunity to work with an organization that values these same goals. Cal South's Pro+ elite player identification program is just one example of how we will work together to advance the game of soccer."
Nike will supply apparel and equipment for the Cal South Pro+ Elite Player Program. This support includes State Development Residential Camp, State ID Camps and ID pools year-round. Cal South Pro+ emphasizes identification, development, inclusion and advancement of the top male and female soccer players in Southern California. Nike and Cal South will also partner on other events and programs as part of the agreement such as the Pro+ Invitational.
