Jeff Illingworth, co-founder of CV Manchester says that "My BU8 (soon to be BU9) team played up in the U9 bracket at the Nott's Memorial Day Tournament and had a great experience.   The competition was tough, especially the La Jolla Impact team."   The entire team worked hard to win.

"I do not always recommend playing up for a team, especially not in a tough tournament like Surf Cup, but it can be a very valuable experience for a coach and the team.  Playing up can help determine where a team needs to work harder."

When a team wins too easily, it can be difficult.  The players can become comfortable with their routine moves and surprised when specific plays no longer work against tougher competition," says Illingworth.

Illingworth continues "My soon to be BU9 team benefited, and we came away feeling that we had a great weekend and a very valuable experience."

Team Manager Dionne Marion agreed with Illingworth and says "The team worked and played hard.  It was a good experience for all the boys!  We were in three of the four matches, but unfortunately in the second half fatigue started to set in on our younger team.   They fought hard to the end and made each and everyone of their parents proud!  We know this experience will only benefit them as they start playing their own age bracket in the tournaments and season to come."
