Beach Soccer Championship RECAP

Oceanside comes alive in May with this beach tournament and players look forward to this event every year. Over 300 teams came from all over California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Virginia, Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Colombia, Portugal & other nations.

Youth Club Soccer has never been so much fun!  The Beach Soccer Championship is one of the best experiences for soccer loving families -- a tournament where the whole family can enjoy, relax and watch some great soccer and soccer players can begin the Summer Tournament Season with a fun filled and relaxed tournament.
The competition was tough and everyone played to win, the workout was intense and players tried to keep the ball in the air for control and often headed the ball into goal. Even loosing on the beach was much better than on the grass field as players sprawled onto the beach and had fun.

Marc Kohler
Managing Director says "We had a sold out Beach Soccer Festival with over 25,000 people at the Oceanside Harbor Beach every day.  We continue to grow and in 2011 we strive to make the Oceanside Festival even more successful with more international teams. We look forward to our next event in Long Beach on Memorial Day 2010 and Fort Myers Beach, FL in July.."

SN also spoke with David Kerton, vice president of the Soccer Club of Oceanside during the Friday afternoon training clinic and he said "I think we are in for a wonderful weekend of beach soccer and to see the stadium packed on a Friday night is terrific."

The tournament was a huge success.  Here is our initial recap.  We are still waiting for some teams to submit their news to SN.

According to the HAWKS, "Our BU13 Red team played in a mixed BU13/14 bracket and faced some tough competition.  The only loss in bracket play was to West Covina Express, who we faced again in the finals after winning the semi-final game with cross town rivals Temecula United.  The final game game was a nail biter re-match against West Covina Express with us coming up one goal ahead to take the championship."

The GU11 Hawks White team took 1st place in the Beach Soccer Tournament on Oceanside Harbor this past weekend.  The girls tied Hawks Red 4-4, beat Pumas USA 7-3 and Temecula United 6-0.  In the semi-finals, they defeated Mission Viejo 2-1 to advance.  Hawks White battled to beat Pumas USA 5-3 in the championship game.
