FIFA's Flagship Competition: 2018 World Cup will be hosted in Russia - 2022 World Cup will be hosted in Qatar.

Soccer has exploded in the U.S. since the 1994 World Cup was played on our soil.  The enthusiasm in America for the 2010 World Cup amazed many.  Soccer is a game of more than just kicking a ball.  And it is a game of heart, and the American heart may be very disappointed but our heart is strong and the passion will rise.

Just before the announcements were made, the President of FIFA, Joseph S. (Sepp) Blatter, talked about the spirit of the game, that soccer gives hope -- that soccer is more than just a game!  We learn to win and we learn to loose - which is not so easy.  Soccer is like life, you need to learn how to win and loose.  Many people think America needs to learn how to loose.  Now we have a chance to show we can do so with grace.

It is hard to imagine how much soccer will change, evolve and grow in the next few years.  I do know this will be a wonderful ride.  How far soccer has grown in America in the last 16 years is only a small indication!  The sport of soccer will flourish in America, even if the World Cup is not held on our soil in 2022.  

The USA was considered by many the 'favorite' for the 2022 World Cup.  Now the experts will diagnose and tear apart what 'we' did wrong and how the prize of the World Cup was awarded to others.  But the game goes on.
