Soccer Tournament News: International Teams at 2012 Dallas International Girls Cup
The Dallas Texans are proud to present the second annual Dallas International Girls Cup taking place on Easter Week, April 4-8 of 2012. In recent years, the Dallas Texans have been ranked the #1 girls’ youth soccer club in the United States by Soccer America. The club and its affiliates have over 18,000 players and 700 teams around Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and 3 foreign countries.
In 2011, teams from around the US and 6 different nations participated in the first Dallas International Girls Cup. This year’s tournament promises to secure the DIGC’s place as the most competitive international girl’s tournament in America. In 2012 the tournament will be even bigger and better, with around 100 teams from across the globe and over 100 college coaches attending.
One of the unique aspects of the DIGC is that it has made arrangements with the Dallas Cup and certain national federations for top tier referees from all over the world to officiate each match. There is also the once in a lifetime experience of an international opening ceremony. Foreign teams have the opportunity to stay in the homes of local teams, so that they can avoid hotel costs, and all players enjoy the extraordinary cultural interaction on the field and off.
The tournament will take place at the Ross Stewart Soccer Complex with 6 world class lighted fields, a professional style club house and a retail village. During the tournament team managers and coaches will have the opportunity to interact and be recognized for their efforts at a reception that will be held in their honor, and all participants will enjoy the distinctive Texas hospitality and culture with daytime and evening social events. Helping to make this event possible are sponsors such as NIKE, the City of Farmers Branch, Soccer Corner and many others.
